Public support for the local LGBT movement in the Faroe Islands is most evident at Faroe Pride which always takes place on July 27th, the day before the national holiday Ólavsøka. Around 10% of the population take part in the annual parade. The parade is a lively community-building event and is followed by a free concert featuring the biggest names in music from the Faroe Islands. This year´s Faroe Pride program is as following:
15.45 pm: Pride warm-up by the national football station (Location: Tórsvøll)
16.00 pm: Pride parade starts next to Tórsvøll. Everyone is free to join in!
16.30 pm: Pride concert including Faroese artists: Teitur, Jasmin, Marble Lost, Helgi, and Danish TV host Hans Pilgaard. The Faroese drag queen, Boogie O´Kayla will host the free event situated between the parliament building and City Hall (Location: Vaglið)
18.00 pm: Pre-Afterparty in Suppurgarðurin with Springarasystrar as DJ (Location: Suppugarðurin)
19.00 pm: 50 years after Stonewall – Presentation and short films presented by Faroe Islands Minority Film Festival (Location: Perlan)
21.00 pm: Pride Afterparty in Sirkus with Joe & the Shitboys, SAKARIS, Marius DC, and different DJs (Location: Sirkus)
