US ambassador to the Danish Kingdom, Rufus Gifford, who is also openly gay, gave a long TV interview to the local TV station, KVF, in the Faroe Islands as part of his official visit to the small self-governing islands in the North Atlantic Ocean.

The country still remains within the Kingdom of Denmark and Gifford is therefore also the US ambassador to the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

The US ambassador talks openly about marriage equality and lands his full support in the fight for gay marriage in the Faroe Islands where a new bill on the matter has just been introduced to the local Parliament. The second reading and the first debate on the matter will begin next Tuesday.

Full marriage equality is applicable in Denmark but currently not in the Faroe Islands.
